Mr. Smith has nearly 10 years of real estate banking and debt capital markets (DCM) experience. Prior to joining Avenue Living, he worked at two major financial institutions where he originated and managed over $600M of real estate loans in Canada and the US across various asset classes, such as construction, land servicing, and income-producing properties.

In his role as Senior Vice President, Debt Capital Markets & Investments, Mr. Smith runs the DCM team and manages a mortgage book of over $2 billion across the different fund mandates at Avenue Living – Core Trust, Self-Storage, and Agricultural Land. He is responsible for all aspects of the financing for these funds, from origination to underwriting, due diligence, loan management, relationship development, and reporting. Mr. Smith holds an MBA from University of Calgary.
